Search Tips

Search for content on ExcellerateHRO.com by entering one or more "keywords" or phrases. Use discriminating words that are likely to be found only in the content you are looking for. The more words entered, the more relevant the results will be.

Results will include content containing as many of the words as possible, ranked from most relevant to least relevant. Relevant content will be returned even if it does not contain all of the words entered. Relevance is determined by weighting words based on their statistical uniqueness. Common words such as "shall," receive a lower rating than less frequently occurring words such as the phrase "digital asset management."

More refined results can be produced by using one or more of the features described below.

Capitalize When Appropriate

Keywords or phrases entered in lowercase will return results that contain those words in any case. Entering capitalized words will return only those results which contain an exact case match. It is always a good idea to capitalize proper names.

Example: A search for pat will return results that match "pat" or "Pat," while a search for Pat (capitalized) will return only results that match "Pat."

Identify a Phrase

Search for an exact phrase by surrounding it with quotation marks, or by entering the phrase in the "Exact phrase" text field on the advanced search form. Only content containing those words adjacent to each other will be returned. Searching for one or more phrases is the most powerful search refinement technique because it eliminates ambiguity. Separate multiple phrases with a comma.

Example: Searching for "annual report" will produce more relevant results than searching for annual report.

Example: To find content with the exact phrases, "annual report," and "Joe Smith," enter: "annual report", "Joe Smith".

Require Words

Require word(s) by typing a plus sign ("+") immediately in front of each word to be required, or by entering each word in the "All of the words" text field on the advanced search form. If only one word is entered, with or without a plus sign, it is required by default.

Example: To search for content which may have the word "solutions," but must have the word "services," enter solutions +services. This will ensure that no results will be returned without the word "services." Be sure to include a space before the plus sign.

Exclude Words

Exclude word(s) by typing a minus sign ("-") immediately in front of each word to be excluded, or by entering the word(s) in the "Without the words" text field on the advanced search form.

Example: To search for content containing the word "report," but without the word "annual," enter report -annual. Be sure to include a space before the minus sign.

Limit Results to One Section

By default, search results from all of ExcellerateHRO.com will be returned. Limit results to a particular section of the site by choosing from the "In the section" pull-down menu. Results can also be filtered for one section by clicking on the "Found in" link after each result.

Limit Results to a Date Range

By default, search results from any date will be returned. Limit results to a particular date range by using the "Dated" options from the advanced search form. Use the "Recently" pull-down menu to select a common timeframe such as "in the last 30 days," or enter a custom date range using the "From" and "To" date entry fields.

Sort Results

By default, search results are returned in ranked order by relevance, from most relevant to least relevant. Search results can be sorted instead from most recent to oldest by clicking on the "sorted by: date" link in the results header. Sort order can also be selected in the advanced search form by using the "Sorted by" radio button.

Use Field Specifiers

By default, the title, summary and body of content will be searched. Field specifiers can be used to limit results based on where the match is found, such as a page title, url, embedded hyperlink text or HTML meta tag. The field name must be in lowercase, immediately followed by a colon. There must be no spaces after the colon and before the given keyword or phrase.

Example: To search for content that contains at least one link to a URL in the www.mysite.com domain, enter link:www.mysite.com.

Example: To search for content that contains the word "apps" anywhere in its URL, enter url:apps.

Example: To search for content that contains the word "Business Process Outsourcing" in its title, enter title:"Business Process Outsourcing".

Example: To search for content that contains the word "investor" in its keywords meta tag, enter keywords:investor.
