Stephen R. "Steve" Heidt is vice president of Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) Operations. In this role, he is operations leader for the NMCI next-generation network recompete, a major pursuit.
As a key architect for EDS' Global Services Network and a previous leader of the company's Distributed Systems Services (desktop services) unit, Heidt is uniquely qualified for his current role. EDS today manages more than 3 million desktops for clients.
In his most recent assignment, Heidt was vice president, Service Delivery Operations, and had responsibilities for end-to-end product development and delivery across EDS' Infrastructure, Network, Business Processes and Security & Privacy service lines, and Global Service Desk Management. Additionally, he led multiple enterprise support organizations that drove automation, standardization, efficiency and productivity throughout EDS' Global Delivery System.
As part of his leadership responsibilities, Heidt is a member of the board of directors for ExcellerateHRO, the human resources outsourcing business of EDS and Towers Perrin, and MphasiS Limited, a leading India-based global IT services company. He played a key role in the recent acquisition of a majority stake in MphasiS, which operates today as an independent EDS company.
Instrumental in the development of EDS' Best Shore® strategy, Heidt helped accelerate the company's expansion in emerging markets including Central and Eastern Europe, China, India, and Latin America. As part of this strategy, EDS has opened Global Service Centers in Argentina, China, Hungary and India.
Since joining EDS in 1980 in the Operations Development Program, Heidt has held a number of key technical and service delivery leadership roles. Those assignments reflect the diversity of his IT services industry experience in the United States and internationally.
In 2004, Heidt was appointed vice president of Portfolio Planning and Operations Improvement. Previously, he led the creation of EDS' first global BPO delivery team, which grew to more than 25,000 employees. He also served as president of Europe, Middle East and Africa Service Delivery, leading more than 28,000 technical personnel who delivered a full range of technical services to clients in more than 20 countries. Earlier, as president of EDS Global Delivery, he had responsibility for the company's engineering functions and support services.
